Moving On

She cries like a child

For the life she missed out on,

In her mind the memory

Of a mother and father

Taking drugs over her.

And living the only life that she knew –

Abuse, sex and drugs

From the age of thirteen.

Now it’s time to move on.

She is torn between two –

The one life she hates

But it is all that she knows,

The other life clean

And serene.

               But she’s scared

Of the new. What comes next?

She’s determined and strong,

But what will come next?

Carry on.
